We Attended Meta’s Day for Agencies Event

We recently attended Meta’s “Day for Agencies” event, an education session Meta puts on for marketing agencies. Media platforms host these sessions from time to time, and at Growth Marketing, we make a point of joining whenever it doesn’t get in the way of client work. Training like this is a chance to learn about new ad products, new techniques, and fresh approaches straight from the platform itself.

Events like this usually double as a pitch for the platform’s new or underused ad products, too. What struck us most was the sheer size of the screens Meta used for the presentation — we kind of wanted one for ourselves. Kidding, of course. When you sit in on a platform’s own training sessions, you often hear familiar points recycled rather than anything new, but this time the sessions genuinely felt well put together.

The event was broadly split into three tracks: a performance-focused session, a content-focused session, and a session on the agency partner program.
Personally, I think Meta is, hands down, the ad platform with the most advanced machine learning technology out there right now. What performance marketers seem to love most is how precisely Meta lays out — almost like a mathematical formula — the most efficient way to put that machine learning to work.
For example, one point emphasized in today’s session was that simplifying your account structure increases your chances of reaching more of your audience.

How many ad sets should you build for fast machine learning, and what’s the maximum number of ad sets worth running? Meta answered questions like these with something close to a mathematical formula.

Predicting performance for a campaign, or allocating budget toward a performance goal, often ends up relying on gut feeling or experience. Meta seems to have done a genuinely clean job of turning that into clearly defined theory. The hottest topic right now is almost certainly ASC campaigns, and this session spent a good chunk of time on ASC as well. For marketers, ASC is an incredibly convenient way to set up a campaign, and the results really do hold up. We’d recommend reading our piece What Is a Facebook ASC Campaign? for more on this.
We also picked up plenty of insight on the creative side of things. Some of the hands-on tips on creative variation might not translate directly for B2B companies, but for B2C brands, we’re already thinking about how to put them to use internally at Growth Marketing.
We’ll be putting what we learned at this Meta Day for Agencies event into practice, and we’ll share the new references we build along the way with all of you soon.

It really seems like Meta runs a lot of events like this one. If you’re an influencer or a marketer and you ever get the chance to visit Meta, it’s worth stopping by the photo zone for a quick shot.

We also walked away with a power bank and a card wallet from the swag table. 🙂
